No Updates in 3 Months! - Revolver Dead -- New Plant :)

Sorry I haven't updated in so long... I kind of moved over to the forums at 420 Magazine and forgot about this page. But here I am! Back in action.

So lot's has changed since my last update. I ended up giving an autoflower bloom nutrients (and too soon at that) and killed her.

First of all I bought a Diamond Mylar Quictent off eBay.ca for about $138 Canadian. It works wonders over my little speaker box / closet grows I had going.. below is a photo of my light setup which is as follows..

1 x 100w 6500K CFL
3 x 26w 6500K CFLs
1 x 55w 5000K CFL
1 x 23w 2700K CFL

...and yes.. that is a USB powered fan keeping them cool.

This is the new light I just ordered to place in for both veg / flower. It's an E26 125w 6500K/2700K Dual Spectrum 9500 lumen Mini Lotus Sun God Komee CFL which I bought for about $98 Canadian.

And finally this is my new plant... day 24 veg (not today) Barbara Bud that's been topped and lollipopped.

Revolver Veg Week 0 -- Switched Out Lighting

So my feminized auto-flowering Revolver has been coming up with flying colors. This pic was taken on Friday after she started her veg cycle on Wednesday... so 2 days of vegetative growth.

I also decided to change the lighting in my speaker box. I took out the 26w 6500K CFL in the center and replaced it with a 23w 2700K CFL. Running dual spectrum seems to be becoming the norm.

Revolver Seeds Germinated

Well it's been about 24 hours and all my feminized auto-flowering Revolver seeds have cracked. I'll leave them for another 2-3 days before transplanting them into my speaker box. I'll be keeping the best 2 of 3..

Purple Kush - Veg Week 2

Today is week 2 of my feminized Purple Kush grow. She's still quite small but has been growing a lot on it's first part of stem. I started her on 1 drop of Schultz Liquid Plant Food per 500ml of water (so 2 drops per liter). As you can see... I also transplanted to a larger pot to free up my smaller pots for some Revolver.

Transplanted to Larger Pot

I just finished transplanting my seedling... I really hope I didn't shock it too bad. I needed my smaller pot for my Revolver that I have germinating so I switched my Purple Kush in my closet to a larger container. Please oh please survive the transfer...

I ended up germinating another 3 seeds of Revolver... I plan on having 2 plants growing in my speaker box and my 1 Purple Kush in my closet.

New Media Capture Device -- 3rd Node Growth

So first of all I have a new camera with a LOT better of resolution (I was using my cheap pre-paid phone before). I'm now taking photos using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1" HD tablet. I've actually been considering doing a video but maybe later in the season or when I get a grow tent.

You can't really see it in the photo above because of the light but the 3rd node set is actually coming up already. I'll probably be topping her in another week and a half to 2 weeks.

Switched Location and Lighting

I moved my Purple Kush seedling from my speaker box to my closet and placed her under a larger light. She went from three 26w (300w equiv) 6500K 1600 lumen (4800 total) CFLs to this beauty seen in the pic above. The new light is a 100w (500w equiv) 6500K 7500 lumen CFL that fits into standard household E27 sockets.

I moved her last night and she seems to be liking it quite a bit. I just plan on growing a larger plant this time so the more juice the merrier. Sadly, I don't have a reflector for it so I loose a lot of light. Next plant I plan on going to The Grow Zone and buying a reflector/socket combo then ordering an E39 to E27 adapter or just buy new bulbs.

Half Dead Starter Leaf -- Node Growth Continuing

Even though the starter leaf (right side) is half dead... it has been growing quite a bit towards the next node as you can see directly in the center. I'm guessing this plant will survive by the looks of her but I really won't be able to tell for another week to a week and a half.

I noticed there's a very very small amount of mold growing on the surface... nothing like before though and definitely nothing to worry about yet, just a little greener on a couple spots.

Dying Starter Leaf

I noticed the last couple days that one of my starter leaves are dying (right side of pic). It's still been growing fine on the other side but the right is all shriveled up and brownish grey. There is also growth happening forming the second set of nodes so I'm hoping this plant will stay alive. I'll post progress on her next Monday.

Purple Kush - Veg Week 0

Today marks vegetation week 0 for my Purple Kush seedling from Crop King Seeds. My other seedling didn't make it past germination so I'll only be planting one plant. I'm pretty sure this little girl will survive despite having a busted mouth piece.

Again... I have it planted in Miracle Grow's Enriched Potting Mix under three 26 watt (100 equiv, so 300w) 6500K CFLs for 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness.

Starter Leaves

One of my plants starter leaves are coming up now. I kind of damaged the mouth piece on it so it's hard to tell is she'll live or not. I have another seed still germinating which I'll probably plant tomorrow. It is currently under three 26 watt 6500K CFLs.

New Soil -- New Grow

I ended up getting rid of both my seedlings due to mold. I heard hydrogen peroxide works but it kills off all the other essential bacterias. I found this new product at The Grow Zone (forget what it's called) but it's supposed to work well and it's just like a nute you add to your water once a week.

I got a bag of Miracle Grow's Enriched Potting Mix (I was using Schultz Potting Soil Plus last time) and I've actually used it quite awhile ago and had great results with it... so I'm trying it out again. Hopefully I won't let it get too damp this time.

I germinated 2 Purple Kush seeds last night and they already both popped in less than a day. I'll leave them germinating for another 2-3 days before I trans-plant them.

Starter Leaves // Mold Problem

The starter leaves showed up on one of my seedlings today. I'm going to leave it for another day or two before I start the vegetation cycle count to get more growth on the other seedling. I also have a bit of a mold problem. I had really high humidity (kept water in the trays in the box) so mold formed. A good thing about this is that it means the soil is good grow medium. I'll let it dry up for a few days then just scrape it all off with my fingers.

Seedling Shells Removed

My Purple Kush seedlings grew quite a bit last night... I ended up removing the shells today by hand. Give it another day and a half and I should be seeing some starter leaves.

Planted Purple Kush Seedlings

I just finished planting two Purple Kush seedlings. I plant them taproot deep and leave the seed shell above soil. I've just had better survival rates doing it this way... less chance of drowning or rotting. I planted it in Schultz Potting Soil Plus from Walmart and placed under three 26watt 1600 lumen 6500K CFLs for 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness.

1 More Day of Germination

 All 3 of my feminized Purple Kush seeds have taproots growing now. I'm going to leave it for one more day to get a better root before planting it.

I noticed one of my seedlings taproot is a little deformed... it's just really fat in the center of it. Not sure if this is good or bad... or if it even matters.

Popped Seeds

I germinated a few Purple Kush last night and all 3 seeds popped today. I'm going to leave them for longer this time to get a good taproot so hopefully they'll survive. I'll leave it for at least another 2 to 3 days yet before planting the seedlings.

Well my last plants ended up dying... I turned the fan off and the box got way too hot for how small the plants were and they dried up. I germinated my last 2 seeds and they are now completely submerged in the soil and should sprout anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks.

I also contacted Crop King Seeds about the problems I've been having with their seeds and Kyle (the owner) agreed to send me a free feminized 10 pack of Purple Kush seeds, worth $110 without gst or shipping. So I got about a $150 deal for $105 spent. Talk about custom satisfaction... I was expecting a grinder or fridge magnet or something... I added Purple Kush seeds for sale through Crop King Seeds on the right of this site.

No More Shell

I ended up planting my seedlings tail deep in the wet soil (Schultz Potting Soil Plus). A bit of growth happened over night and I cracked off the seeds shell just now. I have a feeling the plant on the right (pic below) will die but I don't see why the one on the left won't make it.

Replaced Charcoal Filter

I went to dust out my charcoal filter and the damn thing ripped in half. It was definitely at the end of its life. I had 2 replacements in a bag in my fridge so I popped a new one in. Now the box is ready for another grow.

Planted Seedlings

 My seeds have been germinating at a faster rate than I had originally thought, so I ended up planting a couple of the seeds.

 These are the two seeds I choose to plant.

I planted them in Schultz Potting Soil Plus that I had bought from Walmart. They were placed in a grow box under three 26 watt (100 watt equivalent, so 300w) 6500K CFLs doing 18 hours of light and 6 hours of darkness. (It runs between 2AM and 8PM)

All Seeds Germinated

I just checked my seeds again and all 3 have germinated... I'll leave them for another day or two to get some tail root growing.

Also... 2 of my 3 seeds already popped. I'm going to leave them in wet paper towel in the dark for 2-4 more days to get some tail growth happening. I'll be planting the germinated seeds between Friday and Monday.

Back in Action!!

Wow it's been a long time since I've posted here... I ended up harvesting my last plant too soon and I just microwaved the buds to try it out... never again. Trust me... waiting the extra few weeks for a proper harvest is worth your while.

But here I am... starting a new grow...

 I ended up going to The Grow Zone with my mom and bought a 5 pack of feminized Dark Angel for about $58. It came with a little jar to shake your seeds in and a couple chocolates.

 I decided to germinate 3 seeds and planning on growing 2. I germinated an extra seed just so I can choose the top 2 winners to plant.

 I used the seed shaker thing. It's supposed to get rid of an extra coating that seeds have that cause them to take longer to germinate. It's just sand paper in a plastic jar that you shake for a minute or so. I then took paper towel (2 pieces long).. folded it in half, then folded it in half again. I then open it at the last folder, drop my seeds on spaced apart near the top, close the paper towel, then run luke-warm water over the paper until it is completely soaked. After I place the paper towel around the edge of a large cup, I fill the bottom of the cup with a bit of water. This helps keeps moisture up and every few days I run the cup sideways to re-soak the paper and seeds.

Finally, I placed the germinated cup into darkness where it'll stay for about the next week. The only time it'll see light again is when I bring it out to check on progress and re-dampen the paper towel.

Yesterday was week 2 of flowering. I decided to take another top off since it wasn't really budding being too close to the light. This now marks week 2 which means no more trimming until harvest! I have 3 budding tops now, here's a couple pics...
